The NEST is the start of a new monthly poetry workshop series (brought to you by “The Pigeon”). The Nest will be a place where you can write, bring new work to workshop, learn performance techniques, work on memorizing and more generally grow as a performer and writer.

The NEST will be held on FRIDAY JANUARY 6, 2012 at the MEDIA BUREAU located at 338 Brown St, Philadelphia, PA 19123-2202

Aziza’s 1st friday has a new location – The Nile Restaurant on Germantown Avenue (Near High Street, across from Germantown High School). This is an open-mic that has been around for over 7 years. It was formerly held in Center City. Begins at 8pm to 10:30pm. Cover $5. Hosted by Aziza (pictured on the far left).

Updated 9/6/10 – Hidden Soul Wednesdays is an open-mic and feature performance event that is now being held at Cobre Restuarant 812 N. Broad Street (Broad and Parish) 8 to 1am Every 1st and 3rd Weds of the month. NOTE – Before going you may want to contact them at hiddensoulweds@yahoo.com (or call the restaurant) to make sure its still going on, they were on a hiatus briefly and are slated to return September 29th. Live band lots of beautiful, fun sistahs and brothas. It starts at 7:30pm to 12am (Costs $10).

Over 40 open-mic hosts showed up to be photographed in front of the historic Freedom Theater. Prints will be sold and made available at open-mics in the city. Philly Cypher – The Photo Shoot

The rain stopped, and SEPTA kept moving on Saturday October 31, 2009…for Philly Cypher’s Open-Mic Unity Day. Over 40 open-mic hosts in the city gathered in front of Freedom Theater for a photo shoot that will debut in the December 2009 issue of Philly Cypher. More details to come. The Photo shoot will debut in the December issue of Philly Cypher.
